Description
Sparkly green Australian pipe opal from our mine in the Quilpie district in western Queensland with natural adhering sandstone. There is sandstone still in the face of this opal which is normal for this quality of opal.
Pipe opal occurs when fragments of tree roots or any organic material are trapped in sediments on an opal level and in time some of resulting cavaties are replaced by potch or precious opal. The sandstone has been stabilised with a polymer resin to increase strength and durability and avoid chipping during setting process. (Not a doublet)
