Description
Delicate pastel green is displayed in this solid Queensland Pipe opal with natural adhering sandstone on the back. It has a slight dome and is quality cut and highly polished.
br>Pipe opal occurs when fragments of tree roots or any organic material are trapped in sediments on an opal level and in time some of resulting cavaties are replaced by potch or precious opal. The sandstone on the back of this opal (picture 4) been stabilised with a polymer resin to increase strength and durability and avoid chipping during setting process. (Not a doublet)
