Description
This solid Australian pipe opal has a rolling green flash across the top of the stone (camera unable to pick up). Quality handcrafted in solid 925 sterling silver and rhodium plated to prevent tarnishing.
This pipe opal comes from our mine in the Quilpie district in western Queensland. Pipe opal occurs when fragments of tree roots or any organic material are trapped in sediments on an opal level and in time some of resulting cavaties are replaced by potch or precious opal. The natural adhering sandstone still on the back has been stabilised with a polymer resin to increase strength and durability and avoid chipping. (Not a doublet). There is also a very small amount of sandstone inclusions in the face of this opal.
Comes boxed and with a FREE silver polishing cloth.
