Solid Queensland sandstone matrix opal displaying speckles of rainbow colours (like “fairy lights”). When the sandstone matrix is carbonised (blackened) it brings out the colour of the opal. Sandstone matrix is found on the Queensland opal fields in association with pipe opal. The carbonised sandstone matrix opal has been stabilised with polymer resin to maintain strength and durability. This carbonised sandstone matrix opal has been handcrafted in 925 sterling silver with swinging bail and placed on a solid sterling silver chain.
